Sodium iodide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NaI, molecular weight 149.89, colorless cubic crystals or white granules, a white solid produced by the reaction of sodium carbonate or with followed by the evaporation of the solution, and is available anhydrous, dihydrate and pentahydrate. It is used as a raw material in the manufacture of iodine and in medicine and photography. The pH of aqueous solution is 8~9.5, it should be kept in airtight condition and protected from light.
