What is Glutathione?

L-glutathione reduced is a thiol group containing tripeptide formed from glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine. It is an antioxidant, preventing damage to important cellular components caused by reactive oxygen species such as free radicals and peroxides.

 

Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide containing γ-amide bond and sulfhydryl group, composed of glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine, present in almost every cell of the body. Glutathione is synthesized within the cytoplasm, especially in the liver, where it plays an important role in maintaining cellular biological function.

 

Glutathione powder is a tripeptide that contains an unusual peptide linkage between the amine group of cysteine and the carboxyl group of the glutamate side-chain.
