What's inulin?

Is inulin the powder of chrysanthemums? Why do many weight loss foods contain it? In fact, inulin is not the pollen of chrysanthemums, nor is it the powder of chrysanthemums, but a general term for a large class of natural polysaccharides. It is polymerized from fructose, and each inulin molecule contains several to dozens of fructose molecules. It is the "reserve grain" of plants, usually found in the roots or tubers, mainly derived from plants such as Jerusalem artichoke (commonly known as ginger or Japanese ginger) and chicory, hence also known as inulin.
Inulin is a reserve polysaccharide in plants, mainly derived from plants. More than 36000 species have been discovered, including 11 families in dicotyledonous plants such as Asteraceae, Campanulaceae, Gentianaceae, and monocotyledonous plants such as Liliaceae and Poaceae. For example, the tubers of Jerusalem artichoke and chicory, the tubers of peony (chrysanthemum morifolium), and the roots of thistle all contain abundant inulin, with Jerusalem artichoke having the highest inulin content.
Inulin molecules consist of approximately 31 β- D-furan fructose and 1-2 pyrethroid residues are polymerized, and the fructose residues can be separated by β- 2, 1-key connection. It is made from D-fructose through β A linear linear linear polysaccharide formed by glycosidic bonds (1 → 2), often with a glucose residue at the end, and a degree of polymerization (DP) of 2-60. Inulin with an average DP ≤ 9 is also known as short chain inulin. Inulin extracted from natural plants contains both long and short chains. The molecular formula of inulin is expressed as GFn, where G represents the terminal glucose unit, F represents the fructose molecule, and n represents the number of units of fructose.
