Powder with a pale pink tint. The relative density is 7.42g/cm3, and the melting point is 2350 °C. Insoluble in water, soluble in acid. It can volatilize with steam, is alkaline, toxic, irritating to eyes, respiratory tract and skin, can absorb carbon dioxide in the air and can produce europium salts dissolved in water with inorganic acids.
