The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with edible multiple fruit consisting of coalesced berries, and the most economically significant plant in the Bromeliaceae family. Pineapples may be cultivated from a crown cutting of the fruit, possibly flowering in 20-24 months and fruiting in the following six months. Pineapple does not ripen significantly post-harvest.
Pineapple Enzyme Bromelain, contains anti-inflammatory enzymes that have the proven ability to suppress the inflammation and pain of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, sports injuries, and other joint inflammatory conditions.
Pineapple Enzyme Bromelain has been shown to inhibit the cyclooxygenase enzyme, inhibiting the synthesis of PG-2. Pineapple Enzyme Bromelain also helps to break down fibrin (fibrinolytic), thereby minimizing local swelling.
Bromelain is a group of sulfhydryl hydrolytic protease extracted from Pineapple by bioengineering technology. Its molecular weight is 33000 and its isoelectric point is 9.55. Bromelain mainly comes from plant stem, so it is also called stem bromelain. The main component of bromelain is a kind of protease containing sulfhydryl group. At the same time, it also contains peroxidase, acid phosphatase, several protein inhibitors and organic active calcium. Its active center is sulfhydryl (- SH), which can hydrolyze various proteins and carry out biochemical reactions. It can be widely used in food, medicine and biological industries.
